STARS for Safety!
Not just kicks and punches.
At Delta Kai Martial Arts and Fitness, we believe that safety is paramount to personal growth, community trust, and the integrity of martial arts. Our commitment to safety is not only a matter of policy, but a reflection of our mission to serve and protect our students, instructors, and the broader community.
Respectful Conduct and Dojo Etiquette
All students are expected to maintain a respectful and disciplined attitude both within and beyond the dojo. Any form of aggression, bullying, harassment, or misconduct is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal. To ensure a safe and supportive environment, all individuals must be in a sound physical and mental state while participating in dojo activities. This includes refraining from entering or engaging in training under the influence any substances that impair judgment or physical coordination.
Safe and Purposeful Training
Martial arts techniques taught at Delta Kai are designed for self-defense and personal development. We emphasize non-violence, restraint, and the ethical use of martial skills. Students are taught to de-escalate conflicts and to use their training strictly for protection when absolutely necessary.
Injury Prevention and Reporting
All students are responsible for immediately reporting any injuries or medical conditions that may affect their ability to train safely. Instructors will make accommodations as needed to ensure safety for the individual and the class. Pre-existing conditions and medical clearance are required for those over age 60 or with known health risks.
Health and Readiness to Train
Students must affirm they are in good health and fit to participate. No student should train while sick or injured. This policy protects not only the individual but the broader dojo community.
Safety-First Instruction and Supervision
All instruction is conducted under the supervision of trained staff. Students are encouraged to speak up if they are ever unsure about a technique or feel unsafe. Safety is always prioritized over performance.
